Why we exist
The West ships its dead batteries 8,000 miles and buys the metals back. It leaves rare earth elements in phosphogypsum and other secondary stacks, burns its phosphorus into sewage ash, and imports both materials. Collection was never the missing industry. Refining is. We build it where the waste is, and climb from recovered materials to the high-specialty precursors that next-generation technology runs on.

The technology outlived the company that built it
At Northvolt Revolt, this team built and operated the only battery-grade refinery outside Asia: a 9,000 t/yr plant, over a thousand tons of waste processed into validated battery-grade metal. While the company failed; the process and IP did not. Refinyx acquired the portfolio we had built over 8 years including 135 patents and the Loophouse pilot facility in Västerås, Sweden, and kept the core team intact. The plant ran our first-generation process. Partners get our second: over 25 percent lower operating cost, ready for industrial deployment.
The lesson was not that these plants cannot be built in the West. It is that one company should not carry the technology and the balance sheet alone. Refinyx deploys the proven architecture with partners who have solved the feedstock and offtake problems but need a proven technology and industrialization partner.
