Recycling batteries should be profitable
The metals inside are valuable.
Yet the industry burns most of that value getting them out. The classical route works but drags a century of cost with it; the newer alternatives look elegant on paper and collapse on unit economics.
The result is a market forced to choose between expensive-but-real and green-but-unbuildable.
Refinyx exists because that choice is false.

The chemistry
The chemistry
Refinyx technologies concede nothing. Every advantage of the classical route — battery-grade output, full separation of nickel, cobalt, and manganese, feedstock flexibility — is preserved. Every penalty of it — the solvent inventories, the footprint, the capital, the waste — is gone. This is not a simplification that trades quality for cost. It is a deeper solution to the chemistry itself: impurity removal that handles every impurity family, operation at concentrations the classical route cannot touch, and recoveries above 97% — directly to battery grade.

The build
The build
This team designed, built, and operated the first industrial-scale NMC recycling plant in Europe, and that experience is engineered into everything we deploy. The plant itself is part of the invention: how it's designed, procured, and ramped decides its economics as much as the flowsheet inside it.

Environmental performance by design
We did not add an environmental layer to our process. We designed a process that doesn't need one. When the chemistry itself eliminates organic solvent inventories, recovers the graphite instead of burning it, and closes the water loop, the environmental case stops being a claim and becomes a property.
